Robert O. Marlin, IV

Archivist, M.S.I.S. from the University of North Texas, M.A. in History from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, B.S. in U.S. History from the University of Houston-Downtown. He is also a certified archivist. Marlin specializes in twentieth-century Latin American, Texan and Southwestern history and has published on subjects including Hispanics and the Texas death penalty, pardon and parole reform and Texas-Mexico border concerns.

 


 

 
Sarita B. Oertling

Blocker, Jr., History of Medicine Collection. Ms. Oertling graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree.  She has been an avid historian since she was 10, when her aunt first told her the stories of her family.  Ms. Oertling worked eight years with Galveston Historical Foundation and has also owned her own contract research company. She joined the Library in 1993 and assumed her present title in 1997.

She manages the day to day operations of the department.  As the Library’s Exhibits Coordinator, Ms. Oertling has co-curated several large historical exhibits. While at UTMB, she has been Secretary-Treasurer and also Vice President of the Chauncey Leake History of Medicine Society.  She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and participated as the group’s PR Coordinator.

Ms. Oertling has also been a member of Texas State Historical Association, East Texas Historical Association, Gulf South Historical Association and the Society for Historical Archeology and has presented numerous papers to these associations and others. Her interests have led to authoring several articles dealing with Galveston, medical and general history and have taken her by car, train, plane and tall ship around the US and to Mexico, Belize, Canada, Portugal, France, England and Scotland. 


 

 

 
 
Kelly Caldwell
 
 
Kelly Caldwell received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Texas A&M University and is the proudest member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2006. She is currently working on her Master's in Library and Information Sciences from the University of North Texas.

 

 

 
 
Veronica Puentes
 
 
Recently graduated in 2009 as valedictorian from Aviation Institute of Maintenance. She is currently finishing her testing to become FAA certified.

 

 

 
 
Lisa Reyna-Guerrero
 
 

Received her Associate of Applied Science, and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of Houston. She is currently working towards her Master’s in Digital Media Studies from the University of Houston, Clear Lake.
